Braving the cold for winter birds

Okay, one of my New Year's Resolutions was to revive this blog. We'll see how it goes! This first post is a write-up of a Columbus Audubon trip I led up to the Cleveland Lakefront. Yes, people actually came.

Trip West: from Ohio through Kansas

Hello! I know some of you have been waiting for a post about my western roadtrip, so here we go! We set off on Saturday, June 4th from Columbus. We got out bright and early, at 6AM and jumped onto I-70. By lunchtime, we were in St. Louis! We stopped at the Gateway arch for a picture, and then found a spot to make lunch.

Good news and bad news

Good news first. Migration is heating up, which means lots of birds around! I'm sitting at 189 Ohio birds for the year and more are showing up every day.

January 100

As promised, another post for January. I mentioned in my last post the goal of recording 100 Ohio birds in January. The fabled January 100 was looking fairly easy early on, but late into the month I learned that I wouldn’t have the final weekend to wrap up! More on that in another post; here’s how January went...

Headed South: Birding in Florida
