Birding the Bog -- Day 2

Our second day in the Sax Zim Bog was another amazing day. We started early, hoping to catch a glimpse of Sharp-tailed Grouse as they moved off of their lek. Birding the Bog -- Day 1

No offense to Ohio, which gets plenty cold, but Minnesota is a seriously cold State. As a result, there are some seriously cool birds, which are often tough to see anywhere else. Trip West: from Ohio through Kansas

Hello! I know some of you have been waiting for a post about my western roadtrip, so here we go! We set off on Saturday, June 4th from Columbus. We got out bright and early, at 6AM and jumped onto I-70. By lunchtime, we were in St. Louis! We stopped at the Gateway arch for a picture, and then found a spot to make lunch.

Florida double-twitch

As teased in previous posts, here's the trip report from my Florida excursion! I call it a "twitch" in the title, which is birding lingo for chasing after a rarity. This particular excursion was organized by Jeremy, who has his own blog here. The plan was easy enough in theory

January 100

As promised, another post for January. I mentioned in my last post the goal of recording 100 Ohio birds in January. The fabled January 100 was looking fairly easy early on, but late into the month I learned that I wouldn’t have the final weekend to wrap up! More on that in another post; here’s how January went...
